Did I spell that right? Anyone ever buy this book? I remember reading about it years ago and wondered if it ever took off.

It's one of the GURPS 3e books I did not buy, being definitely not a fan
of David Gerrold's SF.

- to nothing like the degree GURPS Traveller caught on, no;
but rather better than i expected, given how restrictive it
is of the kind of plotline the particular setting is open to.

- i suspect rather more gms read it - and enjoyed reading it,
than actually ran campaigns - long-running, open-ended story-
lines - in the chtorran-terran ecological invasion setting.
short, fast-paced, low chances of survival (or success) and
limited objective missions are rather more likely - and great
fun of that ilk. visits from alternate universes, not all of
them voluntary, could also work very well in the setting.

- love, ppint.

Definitely has the feel of a "first wave" GURPS setting book, like
Horseclans and Witch World, with some specialised character tweaks for
the setting (like Mechanical Telepathy and Mode Training). Compulsive
Carousing, Extremely Hazardous Duty and On the Edge (among others)
were statted in this book; I don't know whether this was their first
appearance, though.

Given that we now have collected GURPS rules (the Compendium volumes
or GURPS 4), I don't think this book now has much to offer beyond the
setting details, and it's not really my sort of thing.
