Has anyone ever downloaded GURPS Lite E and Caravan to Ein Arras and played a long term game with them? I once heard that with GURPS Lite and internet access could literally play GURPS free.

Never played Caravan to Ein Arras, but GURPS lite got me and my players started
with GURPS. You can definitely use it to play GOOD RPGs over the web. It is
called 'Lite' for a reason though.

I mis-typed something. I meant GURPS Lite 3E. The newer GURPS Lite doesn't have enough to really start up a game. Caravan to Ein Arras is a free adventure that used to come with the GURPS Basic Set. There was enough there to make up a small campaign, and it's free. Something else I found (this was a while ago) was a fan made supplement called Caverns and Creatures, which also could be played with just GURPS Lite. Last I heard, though, the author rewrote it into a standalone product.

We started with GURPS Lite 3E. Then when we bought the 3e books, SJ Games
announced the new 4e release date. We were a bit miffed by that.

But what I said before still stands, Lite is great for simple games, the same
way the original V&V books were great for supers.

Some friends of mine played an extended SF campaign (Police in a
developed Solar System, not Transhuman, but heading that way) with just
Lite. They prefer lightweight rules, although that GM has now joined my
GURPS group (heh, heh ...)

If I ever get the time, I'd like to convert the Fallout rpg to GURPS. Don't know how well it will be recieved, because the SPECIAL system (used in the computer game) has been used for the past several years. The main reason I want to convert it to GURPS is because the computer game was originally supposed to use the GURPS rules. SJG decided against it when they found out the computer game was more of a "shoot 'em up" game rather than real roleplaying. GURPS: Fallout, the game Steve Jackson didn't want you have. ;-)
